Cinnamon Apple Morning Meusli Recipe

You may be wondering … what the heck is muesli?

While it kinda sounds like a weird medical condition or something your Grandma invented, muesli is actually a super easy-to-make breakfast that’s a great substitute for granola, oatmeal or cereal. While granola is cooked and clumpy (due to added oil, butter or honey), muesli is mostly raw and loose, and wet instead of dry (since it's got apple and juice mixed in). Learn something every day, amiright?

Okay, so why bother with muesli? It’s full of fiber, whole grains, and healthy fats, which makes it super filling. The lack of added sweetener helps keep your blood sugar balanced, providing slow-release energy throughout the morning. Plus, it's there are so many delicious ways to enjoy it. Dish up this sweet cinnamon apple version cold over Greek yogurt, heat it up for a minute in the microwave (my fave), add in a little almond milk … go crazy, you wild thing you.


  • 2 cups rolled oats

  • ½ cup Trader Joe’s Super Seed Blend (you can also substitute millet or quinoa)

  • ½ cup chopped almonds

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

  • ⅓ cup chopped dried apricots

  • ⅓ cup dried dates

  • ⅓ cup golden raisins

  • 2 organic crisp, sweet apples, peeled and chopped

  • 1 ½ cups apple juice


  • 2 tsp cinnamon


  • Preheat oven to 325 F.

  • Mix oats, super seed blend, nuts and dried fruit together thoroughly in a large bowl.

  • Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, then let cool.

  • Add muesli back to mixing bowl and stir in the apples.

  • Add apple juice and cinnamon. Let soak for 5-6 minutes.
