We all know the drill. New Year's Day hits, and we all make a big deal about our resolutions to work out six days a week, eat gluten/sugar/dairy/fun-free, get promoted at work and generally be ridiculously happy at all times. By March...yeah, not so much. But who cares? Although those initial aspirations may be a bit high, hey, at least they're there. At least we're trying.
I just turned 30 last week (yes, skinny coladas and a tiara were involved), and although the New Year is still months away, I think this milestone is as good a time as any to take a look at my life–what’s going well, and what can be improved. Whether it’s a new decade, a new year, a new month or even just a Monday, it’s always a good time to make changes for the better. No time like the present, right? And while in true resolutions form I may not achieve them all, it's about progress, not perfection.
Well, here they are (in no particular order).
Things I want to do more of...
Meditate. At least once in awhile.
Explore new restaurants, shows, places and experiences more often.
Purge my closet. And my apartment.
Finally get that long-overdue blood and allergy test.
Actually wear my retainer. Ehhhhh.
Connect more often with old friends and coworkers.
Do more to show my loved ones how much I love them.
Amp up my skincare regimen.
Create my professional website.
Travel to Europe.
Go on a volunteer trip abroad.
Buy a home. And furnish it. And decorate it. Ahhh.
Things I want to do less of...
Watch less trash TV.
Be on my phone less often.
Stop over-scheduling every minute of my life.
Less mindless snacking.
Stop being so hard on myself.
I’ll be checking in every few months with updates on how I’m doing. It’s mostly to hold myself accountable, but if I can entertain you in the process (yes, you! hi!), so much the better.
Any resolutions or goals you're working on? I'd love to hear 'em in the comments below!
